la chaux-de-fonds
it was an
amazing
autumn day
when we
took the train to
la chaux-de-fonds.
it was still warm
and the leaves
had begun
to change.
we spent
the afternoon
wandering
the streets
while
wee grub napped
in the carrier.
we followed
the walking map
and saw
some of
the
architecture
that put
this town
on the
UNESCO
world heritage list.
in the late
afternoon
we found a spot
in the shade
of a cafe.
we
ate crepes
and
people-watched
until
it was time
to catch
the train home.
i hoping
for a few
more small
trips
before
we leave
to the states
then mexico.

a route familiar
i was thinking
on my way home
yesterday evening
that
my route home
is now so familiar
after living here
for well over
a year...
but
it seems that
no matter
how long
i live here
and
no matter
how well
i speak french
i will always
feel like
an outsider.
for this reason
i wonder
if
i can ever
truly
call this place
my home.

the work in between
at the end

a week
in puerto escondido
mexico
setting up
my experiments.
it was
a very short week.
i saw
a lot of sunrises.
i saw
a lot of sunsets.
i worked
a lot in between.
we return
at the end of
november.

m i l a n o
we went to
m i l a n
for grub's
40th birthday.
we checked out
the monthly
flea market
by the canal.
(i could have
stayed there
all day
but it was not
my birthday).
the main reason
we went,
of course,
was for the food!
grub tried
a lot of gelato.
we
ate a lot
of great
food...
highlights
included
ubarba
(photos above from here)
and
the small
(photo from here)
(photo from here)
the super cool owner/waiter (photo from here).
it was
too short
a trip.
i didn't take
enough
photos
or
eat enough
gelato.
so i guess
we will
have
to go back
soon.

ps i am posting
daily
on habit blog
all the month
of october.
check it out.
