snow days & cupcakes

happy
valentines
day!

. . . . .

it's a snow day
and
i miss seattle.
when i lived there
i could call up
one of
my brother's
{who work nights}
or
my friend suz
on snow days
and we would
trudge through
the snow
and meet at
a coffeeshop.

in dc
i don't
really have
the kind
of friends
who i call
for last minute
meet-ups
on snow days.
i miss that.
i miss the
spontaneity.

so i am home
today
and instead
i trudged
in the snow
to the neighborhood
cupcake shop
for a cupcake
alone.

not that i mind
being alone
but it would
have been nice
to meet up
with one of you
for a chai
and a cupcake
on an
unexpected
day off,
you know?

. . . . .

in seattle
suz
(aka west coast pony)
and i
met up
with ash in ballard
to drop our wares off
at velouria
and
do a little
thrift-shopping
and
cupcake eating.

it was
busy busy
at the cupcake shop
because of
some
new chocolate cupcake
but
west coast pony
had
a red velvet cupcake

ash can't
eat wheat
so she was sad
as she eyed my
coconut bunny cupcake

but i
(rather alarmingly
resembling
nosferatu)

quickly
gobbled up
my cupcake.

. . . . .

i am not one
to celebrate
hallmark holidays
but since it was
a day off
i got grub
his own cupcake
and made
him
a little
valentine.

hope you
had
a lovely
day.

i thought it was really sweet that you used to meet up with your brother or friend on snowy days when you lived in seattle...i wish i had a brother who was cool enough to care! although mine is only 15 so i suppose he'll come around one day.

i love red velvet! mmmm.

have a great v-day, even though it's a hallmark holiday and all.

great photos, as always.

Oh my god, "nosferatu!" I couldn't stop laughing. Maybe the expression, but you definitly don't look like him. Plus you need some longer nails. Nice cupcakes.

I love spontaneous visits and get togethers! I would have gone with you but I didn't get the day off. Total lameness.

Hi!
I've been reading your blog for a while now and I thought that I would finally comment. I hope you don't mind. I just had to say something when I saw that you were posting about Seattle. I live in Pioneer Square....and absolutely love both Velouria and Cupcake Royale. :) Nothing like a good cupcake.

It sounds like you had a wonderful time!

wonderful cupcake polaroids... the nosferatu one is quite funny :)
i miss that spontaneity with friends too since we moved to florida. though for me it was hurricane days that presented us with sudden days off... if the storm went in another direction at the last moment (more often than not) the weather was so beautiful. perfect calm and sunshine. so we would have hurricane picnics.

Happy late v-day to you! I have been out of internet since monday, I think our modem croaked :(
but now I'm back and happy to see our little photo shoot up and looking great!

It was so much fun, someday we will have to live in the same city so we can spontaneously meetup!

big hugs,
ash
p.s. I will shoot you an email back soon. :)

Those cupcakes look yummy good. I made cupcakes with B on V-day and they were disgusting and I was in tears because damn me if I can't just make a good cupcake you know? But he said he loved me anyways and I thought that is what v-day is all about - loving people despite their flaws :) Oh, and I would have loved to share some chai in Seattle with you, that sound too nice!

I know what you mean. I was thinking back on my days in Terre Haute, (it's no Seattle, but hey I don't get out much...) I miss friends that would just run out to get a muffin and a iced white mocha at a moments notice. The town of Attica doesn't even have a coffee shop. Not to mention, we have like 20 inches of snow and like 2 plow trucks. Oh the joys of down home livin'...
