monday give-away™ ... swap stories

it’s monday…
and time again for
the great monday give-away™!
you can check out
last week’s items here.
only the purple suitcase
remains unclaimed...
it is currently looking for a new home.
this suitcase likes to travel,
likes short walks on beaches,
sunsets…

for those who are new to
the great monday give-away™
here are some quick ground rules:

1. if you want something, leave a comment.
if it is the first comment, the item is yours.
make sure to email me
bugheart at g mail dot com
so i know where to mail your item!

2. items are free (see #3).
if the item is particularly heavy,
i will state that you need to pick up the item
or send me the cost for shipping.

3. send a postcard to me
there is only one cost to you for the item
that you are about to receive
from the great monday give-away™-
send me a postcard
in the form of a photo, painting, collage, etc.
of the item in its new habitat.
i will post your postcard
on my blog,
so it will be fun for everyone.

there are 5 items today in
the great monday give-away™-:

1. vintage 1950s ashtray

very cute whether you smoke or not.
there is a tiny chip in the upper left corner
but it is barely noticeable.

2. vintage pink cardigan taken! mailed.

great spring cardigan with a lacey weave.
size small.

3. vintage green purse taken! mailed.

excellent condition.
great spring green color.
perfect for daytime or evening.
~6 inches tall and 8 inches wide.

4. corduroy pink skirt taken! picked-up.

great color and length for spring!
modern day - size 6.
cute little pockets on front.

5. vintage pyrex casserole dish taken! picked-up.

perfect condition.
no chips or cracks.
unusual design.
perfect for quiche. pies or casseroles!

hope there’s something
you want for your home!

i am trying to clear out some room
in my apartment and lab…
i love stuff but i just have too much of it.
so i am trying to narrow my items down
to well-defined collections…
for example,
only a certain type of pyrex bowl
from a particular era.
now's your chance to benefit
from all my years of thrift shopping!

another great way to clear out your space
is to join in on simple sparrow’s
use what you have challenge
for the month of april.
it’s been sweeping the craft blogs
like wildfire!
i think that we all feel like our stashes
have gotten a little outrageous.
i have been good
about staying away from yarn
but i do have a weakness for
fiskar’s products.
this has inspired bloggers to do stash swaps
like this one
organized by simple sparrow.
i missed out on that one
but i did join in on
the april made stuff swap.
i heart swaps.
maybe i just heart snail mail.
so if you are interested in swapping with me
i do have lots of fabric, collage papers, and yarn.
i would be happy
to swap all or any one of these things.
if you are interested, email me at:
bugheart at g mail dot com.

i have been working on two swaps
to be mailed off this weekend.
i have had some very unsuccessful
felted egg cozies
for the egg cozy swap.
the first test cozy that i made was huge
so i filled it with catnip
and gave it to spot.
she went crazy…
maybe too much catnip?
last night:

and still crazy in the morning:

the last few cozies are much better.
i am trying to perfect
bug and bird shapes.
not as easy as i thought.
it never is.
i worked on my next bird
on the metro today:

enjoy a productive monday!

GINNEY...

I HAVE ALWAYS SAID THAT YOU APOLOGIZE TOO MUCH FER THINGS YOU DO NOT NEED TO APOLOGIZE FOR....(THE UPSIDE OF THIS IS THAT AT LEAST YOU AIN'T ONE OF THE MILLIONS, WHO FOR-GO MANNERS IN ORDER TO GIT WHAT'S "RIGHTFULLY THEIRS"....LIKE NOT HOLDING DOORS OPEN FOR PEOPLE, OR RUNNING A RED LIGHT AND ALMOST KILLING A PEDESTRIAN, BECAUSE THEY ARE TOO FUCKING "BUSY"...A RANT FOR ANOTHER TIME...)
ANYWAY, I COULDN'T HELP NOTICE THAT IN RESPONSE TO "NOT WANTING KIDS RIGHT NOW" IN ONE OF YER RECENT ENTRIES YOU SAID "I GUESS I'M TOO SELFISH" OR SOMETHING LIKE IT, AND THIS IS YET ANOTHER APOLOGY....
TO PEOPLE WHO SAY THIS TO PEOPLE WHO DON'T WANT KIDS: "FUCK YOU". NOT EVERYONE IS MEANT TO BE A PARENT, OR ELSE WE WOULDN'T HAVE UNCLES, AUNTS, AND ALL THE OTHER GREAT FAMILY RELATIONS...AND BESIDES, IF EVERYONE HAD A KID....THAT'S AT LEAST ANOTHER BILLION BABIES ON THIS LIL' PLANET....AND IN CASE ANYONE HASN'T NOTICED, WE DON'T HAVE ROOM/RESOURCES FOR THEM...
ANOTHER THEORY ABOUT PEOPLE AND THEIR REACTION TO PEOPLE WHO DON'T WANT/CAN'T HAVE KIDS: PEOPLE WHO ARE COUPLES AND NOT WITH CHILD....WELL, THAT MEANS THEY'RE HAVING SEX SOLELY FOR PLEASURE...OH MY GOD!! THIS SEGUES NICELY INTO WHY FAGS WILL BURN IN HELL, OR WHY BIRTH CONTROL/ ABORTION ARE WRONG: BECAUSE IT CALLS INTO QUESTION THE PURPOSE OF SEX...AND SEX WITHOUT PURPOSE IS SELFINDULGENT, AND HEDONISTIC, AND WE CANNOT HAVE THAT....

SO GINNEY, IT IS PERFECTLY ALRIGHT FOR YOU TO NOT WANT KIDS...AND IF ANYONE HAS A PROBLEM WITH THAT...YOU CAN SEND THEM TO ME....

ANOTHER THING I HAVE OFTEN SUSPECTED IS THAT THE PEOPLE WHO DO NOT WANT KIDS, ARE OFTEN VERY QUALIFIED FOR THE JOB OF PARENTING, AS THEY CHOOSE TO ESCHEW PARENTHOOD, BECAUSE THEY REALIZE WHAT IT REQUIRES, AND THEREFORE, TAKE IT'S RESPONSIBILITIES SERIOUSLY.

THERE, I FEEL MUCH BETTER NOW.

Well, turns out that I didn't get signed up for the materials swap for Use What you Have but did sign up for the Made swap. So I can for sure swap some fabric etc. with you. I'll send an email.
