off it flew

to
a show
at
LittleBird gallery
in LA.

a show
called
off they flew
to benefit
(for restoration of)
the griffith park
bird santuary
that was
damaged by fire.
here.

i am honored
to be showing
alongside
lisa,
wendy,
and
many others.

if you live there,
go see the show.
100 birds
for
$100 each.

it's probably
good that
i can't go...
i'd buy
so many birds
including
this one.

my piece is
called
germination...
fire often
brings about
the germination
of
many plants
that lay
dormant
until scorched
by fire.
the germination
of a piece,
of a show,
of a sanctuary.

in
the left corner
is an old
perscription
vial
with seeds
from
a
fire-adapted
plant.
too literal?
maybe,
but
it was the
germination
of the piece.

have a lovely
weekend.

next week,
polaroids
and
a
purse-a-day.

week of polas

{tuesday}
an early
vessel
for wednesday

{wednesday}
another shot
from
nightime
moth collecting.
the other
is
here.

{thursday}
i could
resist
this bird
of
stephanie's.
camilla said
that
my felt bowls
look like bird's nests
...
i agree.

i seem
to have
misplaced
{monday}
and
{friday}...
they were taken
while collecting
in the field...
so i imagine
they are
stuck in
a
caterpillar id
book
or something...
maybe
i can find them
for tomorrow...

. . . . .

here's
another
special
guest polaroid...
a beautiful
polaroid
sent to me
by
jen.

she's doing
a travel feature
on her blog
and i am
helping out
with
dc.

more
of the
polaroid.a.day
project
here.

. . . . .

i can't get
concerning
the ufo sighting
near highland, il

by
sufjan stevens
out of my mind.
perhaps
one of
the most
beautiful songs.

hope you all
had
a nice weekend...

ears open

{york, pennsylvania}

although i love
music
and
listen to it
constantly,
i don't like
to wear headphones
when i
am out and about-
commuting or
walking around.

my dad calls
the people
who always
have
their
headphones
on
"pod people"

me,
i like to
just listen...
in the metro
each day
i usually
knit or sketch
and listen
to sounds-
people talking...
the sound
of the metro
squeaking along...

spring is
my favorite
time of year
to keep
my ears open.
i can hear
the birds
and squirrels
getting more
active...
birds courting
sweethearts...
i swear that
i can hear
the buds burst
and
the caterpillars
start to chew.

as i walked
to the metro
from school
this evening
it was like
i could hear
dusk fall...
the quietness
that descends
on the day
like
a fog.

although
i am not
a musical person,
i feel like
there are
so many
amazing sounds
to hear...
it's a shame
not to
keep
your ears open.

but
now and then
i am cranky
and i also
put my headphones
on.

are your
ears open?
what are
you hearing?

. . . . .

here are some
collage tags
and postcards
in the works

and
a finished one

along with
some others
up in my
etsy store
if you want one
for your
very own.

have a
lovely evening.

tidbit of inspiration

inspired by...

the polaroid
(above)
i took
the other
morning
in my bedroom.

the inside
of this book
i found
discarded
in the hallway:

called
the world turned
upside down

{how appropriate}

and
the inside
of an old book

called
the world
of birds

what is
inspiring you
lately?

have a
wonderful
weekend.
