artemisia

i am
sentimental
about summer.

i use to
wish
that
summer
would
never end.

laying on the beach
and
curling sand
between
my toes
and
the pads
of my feet.

summer was
freedom.

eating strawberries
on the cliffs
over-looking the sea
and tossing the
little green tops
over
the
edge.

p e a c h e s

watching
hang gliders
windshield-wiper
the sky.

chocolate
covered
soft serve
ice cream
from
foster freeze
melting
all over
my hands.

i long to
lay in the sun
with nothing
to do.

p i c k l e s

summers
are so different
for me now.
they are
the time
of year
i work
the hardest.
i look forward
to summer's
end.

maybe
someday
i can sit
by the sea
with
my kid(s)
and
eat
one of those
a foster
freeze
cones
again.

I really relate to your thoughts and memories. Your photographs are exquisite. Summer to me means being at the ocean and collecting sea shells, dipping my toes in the water, eating berries, and spending good times with loved ones.

i feel the same way, though somehow every year i think it will be different. i definitely made a resolution to find more ways to enjoy hot weather this year, which has been mostly a combination of meeting friends at the neighborhood pool, and going to the library. i think the library is becoming my foster freeze.

I too relate to your thoughts. Summer used to be so very long and relaxed, holidays that never ended. And yes, choc dipped ice creams too. xo lj

I also have fond summer memories. Growing up by the beach, I spent my days there and loved the freedom of it all... bobbing up and down in the water and later walking home barefoot. Nowadays, it feels all rush, rush, rush... you are right.

Wishing you a little time to loll about and enjoy.
