dear prudence
dear prudence, won't you come out to play
dear prudence, greet the brand new day
i don't
consider
myself
as a
beatles fan.
i remember
my dad
owning
a copy
of
sgt. pepper's
lonely hearts
club band.
it looked
so strange
and
bright
among all
his opera records.
i felt
strangely
rebellious
listening
to it.
i would curl up
in the corner
by the
record player
on the goldenrod
shag rug,
an unsightly
souvenir
left by
the
former owners,
and listen
to
she's leaving home
and
a day in the life
over and over
again.
it is
one of
the most
influential
albums
in my life.
the sun is up, the sky is blue
it's beautiful and so are you
dear prudence won't you come out to play
when i was asked
to participate
in
the white album project
i was a little
at
a loss.
i never owned
that album.
the first
song
that came
to mind
was dear prudence.
not the
beatles
version
but the one
by
siouxsie sioux.
the wind is low the birds will sing
that you are part of everything
the 2nd
album that
i ever owned
was
Hyæna.
.
steven severin
standing against my car
siouxsie sioux
was my idol
in elementary school.
my brother worked
with her
when i was
in high school
so i was
able to meet her
and her band...
i danced
the tango
with budgie in
a backyard
in silver lake.
we walked
to a bar
and drank
southern comfort.
one of the
most
memorable
nights
of my life.

My father made me a tape of the Sgt. Pepper album when I was younger. I loved it and still do. Dear Prudence is such a sweet song. Thank you for remembering which in turn made me remember.
Joe has purchased 3 Beatles CDs in the past couple weeks. I don't know what is going on. I guess he was just tired of me telling him "not till we find it on vinyl!".
Love the artwork and I REALLY love the bug on your car. :)
wow. you met siouxsie? i'm jealous.
dear prudence is a great choice... i wish i had gotten it together to do that project...
