life in the trees

more photos
from
the weekend.

lots of
skirt-wearing
{above}

farmer's market
veggie
dinners
à la grub

and
a new
vintage
WWII
buckle ring

i just
love it.

. . . . .

the beginning
of june
marks the
official
beginning
of
caterpillar
collecting
for me.

i have been
out
in the field
this week
finding,
tagging,
and
GPS-ing
the lucky
trees
in the
forests
of maryland
that i will
collect
caterpillars
from
all summer.

it's nice
to be
in the field
again.
i forget
how lucky
i am to be
paid to do this
{however little}.

lots of cool
things
out to
look at
(in addition
to caterpillars
of course)

tulip poplar
blooms

toads

what's this?

look closer...

baby bugs
are
a-hatching

and this?

a tiny
grasshopper!

and
reflections
in the stream

this summer
i will try not
to bore
you with
my research
but
i think
i will feature
favorite
caterpillar
of the week
...
would you
like that?

. . . . .

lastly...

a felted vessel
for
carson's
vessel wednesday
i made some
to show
the girls

at
felt-n-belch
yesterday.

here's
our
photobooth
photo:

whew
that's a lot
today...
but
what
will tomorrow
bring?

Vote 1 Caterpillar of the Week.

And your photo booth shots should be to the tune of that old Cockney tune "I've got a love-erly bunch of coconuts" .. hope that doesn't get lost in cross-cultural translation ;)

Firstly, I love your green skirt and matching toe nails :) you can't let the details get past me. Loving your buckle ring (I adore anything with buckles on them...) The photograph with baby bugs is amazing and lastly but not least, the felted bowls are gorgeous! Thank you for sharing such a fun-filled post.

Did you come up with the bowl pattern yourself, or use someone else's? They are so pretty.

I'm with Gracia on this post. I've fallen for it all...

You have such a fabulous job - and I love the reflection photo - and I would love the bowl pattern.

Hi Bugheart ~ I'm Wendee and I live across the street from your brother (Joe) in Seattle. I think we might have met at his gallery opening a few months back. Was that you? Is there more than one sister? I'm having a great time perusing your blog! Thanks for sharing!

(PS - I found you through SewGreen - that's where Joe sent me - he said to look for the person who loves bugs :)

As always you are too stylish! I of course dear felt friend love the bowls. Now all we need to do is work out how we can eat out of them and life would be complete...
