oh i'd love a recipe for spicy tomato sauce! we made the gnocci recipe from martha stewart living about five years ago. pretty good. there are so many vegetables free for the taking here, i.e. on the side of the road. on friday, i walked into the post office and there was free produce and bread because the food bank was overflowing! i picked up overripe bananas for banana bread and a walnut baguette from an artisan bakery (!) to make bread crumbs.

It's amazing to see the many different shades and shapes of the tomatoes - I like the sound of spicy tomato sauce.

I was planning to make gnocchi with the free potatoes too! Spent way to much time reading various recipes, not enough time in the kitchen. Did you find a recipe that worked well?

Oh! the sauces you could make with such produce...

The sight of all those tomatoes makes me quiver with delight! I don't have any gnocci recipes off hand; but I know that Jamie Oliver's pumpkin gnocci is easy and delicious (now where to find that). I remember my uncle bringing up a big box full of home-grown tomatoes from his property a few months back (http://thoughtsandbirosketches.blogspot.com/2008/06/things-to-do-with-vine-ripe-tomatoes.html) and they were the sweetest, most delicious tomatoes I've ever had. I think the Spanish are really onto something by blending them up fresh with a little garlic and having them on crispy toast with olive oil and a pinch of salt. Your blog is an afternoon delight (as always)
