c o l o r
i grew up
in a
very blue
room.
a
brilliant
bright
almost
periwinkle blue.
when i think
about
being little,
i think
of that blue.
strong, deep
purpley
blue.
although
my sister
soon tired
of the
color
she
had once
choosen
{she was
7 years
older that me,
and had
say over
all things},
i was always
fond of
the color
{unlike
my hatred
of the
the
laura ashley
floral curtains}.
i think
i have
always
been drawn
to
bright
strong colors.
maybe
because
of that
blue
blue
room
that
i fell asleep
in
every night.
do you have
a strong
color
association
with
your childhood?
. . . . .
a new
t r i n o c u l a r s
post today.

I used to have quilts... some hanging on my walls, one on my bed, and the one I'd stare at every night as I fell asleep was orange and yellow and brown. I have to admit, I am not a fan of those colors (and I'm not a bit "warm colors" person entirely), but those bring me back to being little.
Now, my favorites are those of the woods, the ocean. So blue is my number one favorite color. Green sometimes bustles in too. xo
Hi Gwen,
Gosh, I just had to write and tell you how much I enjoy reading this post.
I also love strong colours today - probably going against the florally pastels i had to grow up with :)
i love how your weave memories into your posts. really lovely. if i remember correctly, my walls were white but my sister and i shared twin beds that were painted red. if i had to associate one color with my childhood it would be red for that lovely bedroom furniture. xo
i grew up in a blue room. the size of a closet. Yet it overlooked the San Francisco bay. It was a million dollar view. I wouldn't have traded it for anything.
ps: i'm sorry to hear about the circu.

i think you KNOW that i love color....
my room was pink first and then yellow... colors that i've definitely come back to now as an adult!
i like colours! whether they are bright or pastel colours. it just makes my day. my room was apple green before. now its just plain white. i want to get a blue room too!!!
I used to think I didn't have a favorite color or very many color associations.
Then, in the last 2 years it's hit me. It's been here all along.
I think I believe all houses need to be painted yellow! A color I used to dislike. But last year I painted our house yellow. Then, looking thru some lost childhood photos I realized BOTH houses I grew up in were yellow (there was a grey period in there when we painted the house).
It's a subconscious thing. And now I notice when I look at other people's houses, they don't look finished unless they're a sunny shade. Go figure!
