paris . . . deux

thank you
all so much
for your
sweet comments
yesterday.
i am feeling
a bit better
today.
friday brings
hope for resolution
and
a little time
to catch up.

. . . . .

back to paris.

there is so much
about the trip
that i am
still digesting...
sometimes
i can't truly
know how
i feel about a trip
until i put
all the photos
in my
photo album.

do you ever find
when you
come back
from a trip
and people
ask you
how it was...
it's hard to tell them?
i saw
so much...
thought about
so much...
it's hard to say
it was fun
exactly.
it was just
an incredible
experience.
does that
make
sense?

on this day
we decided
to wander
around old
neighborhoods...
first,
place des vosges
with
an amazing park

and
very expensive galleries...

then off to
le marais
(a must see
on my list
because of
claire's suggestion)

one of my favorite
neighborhoods.

i went to this
amazing
vintage photo,
equipment,
and studio
shop

i could have
spent
the whole day
in there...
but i thought
my mother
was getting impatient
so i had about
15 minutes
and walked out
with 3 little photos-
one of which
i plan
to get framed
for a birthday present.

the photographer
that owns
the shop
had portraits
he took
plastered
on the wall
outside:

which i was
enamoured with:

i found his portrait
amongst all of them:

then we
walked to
place georges pompidou

we rested by
a cafe
near an old church...

and then
walked
for what
seemed like
forever
to a cafe
my mother liked
by the louvre
for another
café crème
(i opted for
champagne).

this was ALOT
of walking.
i think
my mother
was a little
overzealous
(there was so much
she wanted to see).

we were pooped.

so that evening
we bought
some wine,
several cheeses,
and a baguette
and stayed in
watching
bad french tv
(they actually
have pimp my ride
dubbed on
french tv!)
and resting our feet.

have
a wonderful
weekend!

until monday,
xo

so fun to see your pics and to see that graffiti covered building and the guy from photographie ... I think once they convert that building into fancy lofts no one will be able to afford to live around there anymore! x

Was this your first time to Paris, or had you been there before?

more wonderfulness..those photos on the building is incredible!!!
And the old church looks stunning..paris has so many layers to discover..'an incredible
experience' makes much more sense than 'fun'!
Have a lovely weekend xxx

claire:
thanks for the
recommendation.
i loved it...
and i thought
the same thing
when i saw the sign
for condos...*sigh*

eero:
i have been
to paris
twice before
but only for 1-2 days
at a time.

julie:
you are so sweet!
so many layers
and i think you
discover different ones
with different people.

not quite as good as going, but sure is fun to see paris thru your eyes.

that store - gasp! worth the trip [along w/ the food, architecture, museums] alone?!?! wow.

and yes - often new and great experiences can't be described.... xo

it is wonderful to see your photos from this trip... i have a bad case of wanderlust at the moment and it is nice to virtually travel a bit with you.
i am amazed by the wall of portraits... incredible.
and your description of your emotions is so good. the way that it's hard to say exactly how a trip went without getting into all the emotions/ experiences... hard to sum up in a single word or two.

I'm enjoying "Paris through a Polaroid" too.
The wonky staircase reminded me of the funny little hotel on the Rive Gauche I stayed in with my mother when I was 15. It looked very much the same as yours and it was smelly..in that way that only Parisian smelly stairs can seem so wildly romantic.

oh wow, that park looks so lovely! all those trees!!!

i've had some experiences that cant be put into words...sometimes they are the best things, other times i just wish others could understand.

I had problems commenting yesterday, so I'll try again. Paris look wonderful, love your park photo and that portrait wall is amazing. Hope to see it in person one day!

GINNEY...I AM JEALOUS...SO MUCH SO THAT I THINK A NEW COLOR NEEDS TO BE INVENTED TO DESCRIBE THE FEELING...I AM PURPLE WITH ENVY?

YOU BLOW MY MIND, WITH THE WHOLE CHART THING...FOR YER CLOTHES...SOMEDAY THEY WILL HAVE TO PUBLISH A SERIES OF ENCYCLOPEDIAS, JUST TO CATALOGUE ALL YOUR WORK....

AS FOR THE FRENCH....PUHLEEEZE...AT LEAST YOU CAN SPEAK THE LANGUAGE.....HERE COMES THAT PURPLE FEELIN' AGAIN...
