collection collective: aprons

{aside}
yesterday
i hop-
ped
a fence
to check out
an old car dealership
from the 1950s
that
they are
tearing
down...
but it was
too late
in the day
and the light
had dropped
low
over the horizon.
on the
second floor
one beam
of light
fell into
an office of disarray
that had
been ransacked
for any valuables...
although
the room
was otherwise
unexciting,
i found
the light
that fell
on the desk
to be quite
beautiful.

check out
more polaroids
here.
................

i bring home
a
lot
of
vintage/thrifted
things
[as you well know].
grub is pretty
opposite to me
in a lot of ways
and one of
those ways is
grub doesn't
have
decorative
[useless?]
stuff
and
isn't into
thrifting
[only child
who never
wore
hand-me-downs].
so all
my vintage things
pile up...
grub is pretty
easy-going
(although
"not another
{fill in collectable here}!"
is uttered
occasionally)...
every
now and then
grub realizes
that
i don't just
bring home
random crap
and i may
have an eye
for thrifting.
for instance,
when we
came across
this article
in the
time out:

yes,
vintage aprons
are the next
hip thing.
selling in NYC
boutiques
for $100+!
it was
one of those
i told you so
moments.
but hell,
the craft blog world
has known
that
for ages...
tie one on
has been
re-inventing
the apron
for years
bloggers
are
making,
inheriting
and
thrifting
cute aprons
all the time.

i don't really
a real
collection
but here's
my little
collection
of vintage
[and handmade]
aprons:

the bottom
one is
a christmas
apron from
f.pea.

i'd love to see
your
vintage aprons...

i really love your aprons. kristen (in a little house by the lake) made and sent me the cutest apron a bit ago. i love it and it has my initial. i collect vintage tablecloths and always think how cool it would be to turn one of them into an apron! xo shari

I love that the only thing you found was
"the light
that fell
on the desk
to be quite
beautiful."
Sounds like a lucky find to me...
take care, g

I saw your aprons - I can't believe some sell for $100+ in NYC. I am an antique dealer, and one of the things I do sell is vintage aprons. My prices are much more reasonable! You can check them out here:
