challenge.
you may
have noticed
i skipped
the first set.
this was
because...
well,
i was
really
unhappy with it.
ever notice
that the
concepts
or ideas
you think
are the
easiest
always
turn out
to be
the most
difficult?
deceptively
easy,
i think
it's called.
when i
was thinking
of ideas
for
these pieces
i always
came back
to the idea
of
the
collection.
i was drawn
to
beautiful
collections
by
camilla
and
irina.
i love collections.
i love arranging them.
but mostly
i am fascinated
by what
makes
a collection
of objects?
what unifies them?
why are we drawn
to arrangements
of objects
that are
different
or
the same?
no matter
how much
i arranged
and
rearranged
papers
i was
not happy
with
the
collections.
so i was left
with 10 pieces
that
didn't
get anywhere.
this
depressed me.
i thought
i had
an eye
for collections.
i think
it's
important
to understand
the process...
the evolution
of an idea...
even if
it ends up
not
working.
at least
for now.

Maybe it is caused by the missing piece in us, which make each of us unique.
You said you were not quite happy with them. I think they are lovely. Maybe one day you will come back to them and add that one extra thing that makes them special to you!
I had a collection of ceramic animals when I was little and I didn't really like them much. I don't have that collection anymore, however when I turned 30 all of a sudden I started collecting ceramic animals; a brand new collection of ceramic animals which I love and display them all the time. Isn't that weird?

These pieces are quite lovely individually, but not so cohesive as a set.
I often find that the first of anything for me turns out to be more of me trying to get a feel for it rather than the real thing, your second and third collections were quite beautiful, so perhaps it was just you testing.

that one is quite unique in general sense, it is beautifuk and artistic..wow
The way i see it, an idea is just a beginning, like a string you hold to in the labyrinth. But there comes a time when you reach the end of the string, which is the result of that idea. That is when one needs to let go of the string and trust that you will find your way. And that way is when the final result of that original idea lies. Either that, or you get eaten by the minotaur.
well I love your work.. as usual... and for it to be a collection... it had to be first saw as one by your eyes... but, even if it isn't it's great and I'm glad you showed it anyway

i think that sometimes when we feel like we "know" a subject our expectations are different? so we are even more easily disappointed???
i personally love the gray one with the cut outs. it's like the presence and absence of a collection [except for the one pod]

There is a crucial aspect to making anything that involves a process of elimination---this includes creative decision making.
From the "unsuccessful" series, you learned so much that the other two groups were successful!

i think your pieces are incredible. it is possible that you are too hard on yourself, remember that old phrase, you are your own worst critic!
the way you articulate your thoughts is so intriguing. really got me thinking about what people consider to be beautiful or appealing because of their harmony, arrangement, similarity, etc.
regardless, you do have a talent for creating these lovely works of art.
if you don't find that they work together- try to see them on their own... because they are beautiful!
